Born and raised in Montreal, Allan Sitar started private classical piano lessons at the age of 10, with the Royal Conservatory of Music of Canada. Having finished his Bachelor’s music degree in Classical Theory and Jazz Studies at Concordia University (1992), he moved to Toronto and worked with various jazz ensembles and big bands.
Later, from 1999-2008 he worked on cruise ships until settling down in Europe.
From there, he sang for the next 15 years throughout many hotels, resorts, and piano bars, as a Piano Bar Entertainer. This not only in Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, The Netherlands (Kurhaus), Spain, and Croatia) but also in Seoul, South Korea (Hyatt), and in Kuwait (Hilton).
As Jazz music is since ever the passion of his life, Allan formed in the past few years the AL SiTAR Jazz Trio. Mostly backed by contrabass and drums, this Jazz Trio also plays in combination with other instruments like saxophone, horn and trompet.
The AL SiTAR Jazz Trio is dedicated to keeping their music dynamic, energetic, and exciting.
Influenced by classic jazz legends like Red Garland, Wynton Kelly, Oscar Peterson, Monty Alexander, and Gene Harris, their aim is to capture the essence of Classic Jazz Trio mastery.
Drawing inspiration from vocal greats such as Tony Bennett, Ray Charles, Nina Simone, Nat King Cole, Diana Krall, Frank Sinatra, Freddy Cole, Jamie Cullum, and Anita O’Day, among many others, the AL SiTAR Jazz Trio has crafted a truly unique jazz experience.
They breathe life into the jazz tradition by performing songs in a straight-ahead swing fashion, ensuring that the spirit of Jazz remains vibrant and alive.
The AL SiTAR Jazz Trio can be found once again aboard cruise ships, but also on Jazz Festivals, in high-end restaurants and on private events.
